Junhui & Yuchen (CHN) upset Angriawan & Sugiarto (INA)

In our first Men’s Doubles match of the day, we see Indonesian players Berry Angriawan and Yohanes Rendy Sugiarto play Li Junhui and Liu Yuchen of China.

Angriawan and Sugiarto put up a fight against Chinese Taipei players Jui Wei Liang and Kuan Hao Liao in the quarter finals on Friday to come back from losing 8-21 in the first game, to winning the next two games 21-15 and 21-16 and claim their spot in the semi finals.

Junhui and Yuchen beat No2 seed from Malaysia V Shem Goh and Khim Wah Lim in an intense three game match to earn their spot in the semi finals.

The Chinese started positively, taking an early lead and building it in to an unassailable advantage, which they continued to extend right through the first game. In the second game, Angriawan and Sugiarto showed renewed resolve and fought hard to defuse the Chinese pair’s relentless attack. Yuchen and Junhui came back after the interval to close it up at 17-all, before a couple of unforced errors allowed the Indonesians to take the second game. The third game saw the Chinese pair regain the initiative and lead from the first rally to claim the match.
